The library roof leaked from the first day the school opened in 1991. Contractors put buckets under the leaks and left. You can see one above some ceiling tiles in the photo below. They did not contain the leaking. Custodians hung tarps under the leaks and removed the ceiling tiles, placing buckets underneath to catch the leaks. Many areas of the library remained without ceiling tiles for the majority of the time I worked there through the 90's and beyond. Buckets were there over 13 years later when NIOSH sent inspectors. Most photographs of events held in the library would show tarps as a backdrop.

May 1, 2002: The leaking continued however. This shot is fifteen days after the dedication shown above. At this point I had begun taking photographs to counter the ongoing statements that problems were finally fixed.

January 29, 2004: I had a key to come in on weekends to empty the buckets so they would not spill to the rug. The dripping often missed the buckets anyway and soak the rug.

January 29, 2004: Kids Measure Swollen Shelving After January 2004 Snow Day. The particle board shelves would swell in the leaks. One shelf was bolted into place as it would no longer slide into its fitted shelf brackets.
May 25, 2004: Lighting Leak. After being assured that they had finally fixed all leaking, I took these photos to show the head of the custodians that the ceiling was still leaking.
